Having just moved to Shanghai from San Francisco my friend took me to Din Tai Fung to de-xiaolongbao-virginize me. Mmmmm! This is one of the first restaurants I've been to in Shanghai that pays attention to detail to make your dining experience as enjoyable as possible. It is a very clean and cozy setting and the food is quite tasty. Between the two of us we ordered Dan Dan Mian, a vegetable and two different types of xiaolongbao each equally delish. Since this was my first time eating the soupy dumplings I don't have anything to compare them to but for now they set a pretty high standard.

A word of advice (according to my friend): Make reservations if you are going on the weekends during rush hour. We went at 3:30 on a Saturday and it was still packed.

The food in Shanghai Din Tai Fund is as good as in Taipei. Plus they also serve some local food. The service is very good and efficient.

One of my favorite places! I've probably been to Din Tai Fung more than any other restaurant in Shanghai. Dumplings are the ultimate Chinese comfort food, and they make them very delicate and tasty. Don't miss the black sesame steamed buns for dessert.

This place rocks! The dumplings are the best in town. You should also try the beef noodle soup, the chicken soup, and the fried rice... A must for any visit to Shanghai. Service is also excellent, a rarity in Shanghai these days.

You cant really go wrong with DTF. The food is consistently yummy, you dont need to check if the chopstix are dirty, and the best part is the impeccable service. Great service makes a huge difference in Shanghai, and the staff at DTF get rated on how much they "smile" at the end of each meal.
